The paper examines the Yoruba views and beliefs on the illness called hypertension. This paper establishes that there are so many causes and recipes for the treatment of hypertension. The paper attempts to trace the history of the discovery of the diseases among the Yoruba. Eight types are experimented by the users who have varying degrees of comment on the effectiveness of the traditional drugs. Our findings reveal that more than half of the drugs are very effective, with or without noticeable side effects. It is also discovered that some of the drugs are not as very effective as claimed by the traditionalists. The paper concludes by recommending that interested scientists and pharmacists who have sound knowledge of drugs and its preservation could improve upon the traditional drugs for hypertension.
