Healing Herbs: Comparative Healing Traditions in Cuba and Senegal

My goal is to comparatively examine traditional medicine practices in Senegal and Cuba. I will draw on research from the Traditional Hospital of Keur Massar and interviews with healers and consumers in Senegal. I will compliment this research with materials gathered in Havana, Cuba. This primary research coupled with some previous studies will explore who resorts to traditional medicine and why. Furthermore, it will also provide a snapshot into the practice of traditional healers in West Africa and the Caribbean.
