Abstract
Civil unrest is a major occurrence in Africa. This has been a problem even to foreign powers. As a result, many International Agencies have been moved to visit specific African countries with the intent of bringing succor to areas of severe occurrence. Nigeria has been a beneficiary of civil unrests from the June 12, 1983 political unrests in the West, the many religious religious imbroglios in the North to the boundary and land disputes in the Eastern part of the country. From October to April 2007, Ekiti State of Nigeria was a boiling point in Nigeria among other parts of the country that witnessed religious upheavals.

It will be recalled that in crises periods, the women and children are always at the receiving ends. A survey was carried out in Ekiti State to determine the effects of this unrest on the economy of the Ekiti women of Nigeria. Analysis of data gathered from their participation in banking activities shows that economy plays a major role on the impact of civil unrests on Nigerian women. This paper, based on the opinion of the women respondents; introduces measures that could safeguard both the economic and psychological disposition of women during future crisis.
