We have finalized the hotel accommodations with the Holiday Inn Town Lake and they have arranged for the booking of hotels for the conference. The rate for each room is $109 per night. The rate is a flat rate for each room whether it is single or double occupancy.
To reserve a room please go to the Holiday Inn Town Lakes website at www.holidayinn.com/austintownlake and use the group code "WCA". This code is only valid from the 27th - 30th. If you stay additional days at the hotel you will pay normal market rates ($200-$300 a night) for any days not covered by the conference. The cutoff date for securing the reduced is March 6th 2008. However, if you know for certain you will be attending, please reserve your room as early as possible, because the hotel will only reserve a limited number of rooms and until they are filled they will not reserve additional rooms for us.
If you cannot book your hotel through the website, you can always call the hotel and reserve a room by phone. The hotel front desk number is +1-512-4728211. They will be happy to assist you. Please make sure they know that you are coming for the conference so the will give you the discounted rate.
Also, if you need to stay in Austin longer than the conference (either before or after), the Holiday Inn has made the conference rate available. However, you cannot do this online, or through the reservations desk. In order to make sure you get the discounted rate for your entire stay please contact the manager of the Holiday Inn, Divya Saighal at dsaighal@pacificahost.com.
She will make sure to adjust your reservation rate accordingly. Remember, only Divya can help you with this and only through contacting her through her email. The reservations agents at the hotel CANNOT give you this rate without Divya's direct approval. Please, if you need extra days at the hotel, contact Divya BEFORE you reserve your hotel.
The Holiday Inn Town Lake is located in downtown Austin, with easy access to most of the attractions the city has to offer.
Though you are not obliged to stay at this hotel, we strongly recommend it, since it is convenient and with the conference rate, it is affordable. You will be responsible for your own transportation if you choose to reside elsewhere.
To assist participants in saving costs, we will create an email list for those participants who wish to find someone to share a hotel room. Once your payment has been received you will receive an invitation to join the Africa Conference Hotel group. This group will provide a communication link for those wishing to find a roommate for their stay and minimize cost. Please note that all agreements made through this group are the sole responsibility of the conference participants and the University of Texas and the organizers of the conference will assume no financial responsibility for any agreements between conference participants.
