How to Use this Unit

You may be using this unit as part of a school project, in which case you should follow the instructions given to you by your teacher. You may also be using this unit on your own. If you are, feel free to choose the units that interest you.

Here are a few guidelines to help you on your way.

At the end of every lesson, you will be presented with several options:

  • See A Map -- in the unit on Historic Cairo, this link will pop up a new window that will display a map of the Cairo area during the historic era described in that unit.
  • Take the Quiz -- all units are accompanied by interactive, self-scoring quizzes. Click this button to take the quiz for that particular unit.
  • Historic Cairo or Modern Cairo -- Clicking this button will take you to the front page for that unit.

You will also see many photographs throughout the unit. To enlarge the photo, simply click on it, and a new window will open up with a larger picture. Important: When you're finished looking at a larger picture, close the window. If you don't, every picture will keep loading in that same window, but the window won't resize itself for pictures that are bigger or smaller, or aligned in a different way.
