Instructions
In Chapitre 2 you have been learning to describe yourself and your family. Today you will visit
Franceworld,
a Minitel service created in France in 1992 to link French students to penpals around the world.
Your assignment today will be to search through the Franceworld database to find a pen pal:
- First, go to Franceworld,
and click on 'Trouver un correspondent.'
- Next choose a country (Sélectionnez un pays dans la liste ci-dessous): France
- A set of search criteria will appear in the middle of the page. Modify the search criteria by choosing
- Pays recherché: France, or a francophone country of your choice
- Mon correspondant recherche (My pen pal is looking for ...): des Américains
- Région: Paris, Sud de la France, Lyon et sa région, Sud-Ouest de la France, Nord de la France, etc.
- Age: tous les ages, plus de 22 ans, 19 à 22 ans, 16 à 18 ans, etc.
- Sexe: fille et garcon, fille, garcon
- Once you have set the search characteristics, a list of names will appear. Click on a name to see more information (une fiche).
- Browse through the fiches until you find someone who
interests you. Once you have chosen a possible penpal write a paragraph to explain the following ...
Le portrait de mon/ma correspondant(e)
- Comment s'appelle-t-il/elle?
- Quel âge a-t-il/elle?
- Il/elle est d'où?
- Quels sont ses passe-temps préférés?
- Pourquoi est-ce qu'il/elle est intéressant(e)? Il est intéressant, parce qu'il aime le jazz (il étudie les maths, etc) ... (âge, études, passe-temps, sports, d'autres détails)
Your homework assignment is to write a letter to your new penpal, telling him/her about yourself and your family. Include the following:

- J'aime ... (passe-temps)
- J'ai une petite/grande famille. Ma famille habite à ... J'ai ... frère et ... soeur. Il/elle s'appelle ..., etc. (description de votre famille)
