Aron Glantz used the psuedonym, A. Leyeles, as a writer. He grew up in
Lodz and came to the United States in 1909. From his earliest years, he
was active in Jewish nationalist activities, particularly those of the
Yiddishist, Territorialist kind, which sought to establish and promote
Yiddish cultural autonomy. His first Yiddish book of poetry, "Labarint"
[Labyrinth], published in 1918, was the first In Zikh work;
however, he went on, in the 1920s and 1930s, to experiment with various
poetic forms not yet known in Yiddish.
