John Adams

John Adams served in the First and Second Continental Congresses, and was instrumental in the drafting and passage of the Declaration of Independence. He did not attend the Constitutional Convention of 1787 as he was abroad serving as America's minister to Great Britain, but he was elected as the first Vice President under George Washington.
