The Voting Rights Act (1965)

Ninety-five years after the 15th Amendment was ratified making it unconstitutional to deny anyone the right to vote based on color, the Voting Rights Act was passed by Congress prohibiting the poll taxes, literacy tests, and other means of blocking African Americans from voting that were prevalent in many southern states.
