TCADP’s Advocacy Intern will be responsible for assisting with community outreach and public education programs, research and writing, strategic communications, political research, and administrative support. He/she will interact with other staff, volunteers and community partners, and in some cases will be responsible for establishing new contacts and strengthening our relationships with existing coalition partners.


- Logistical support for public education and outreach programs, including events involving religious leaders and individual faith communities, the TCADP 2014 Annual Conference, and engagement of civic groups and college students

- Development of educational materials for print or web publication, including photos and video where applicable

- Research and writing assignments related to TCADP's blog and monthly e-newsletter

- Administrative support such as data entry, event planning, and phone outreach

Desired skills:

• Exceptional communication and writing skills (ability to speak and write Spanish is a plus)

• Experience with grassroots/student organizing and community outreach

• Experience with online communication/social networking tools (Facebook, blogs, Twitter, etc.)

• Proven ability to work independently

• Interest in working with a non-profit organization

• Personal commitment to the abolition of the death penalty
