Divisions & Eligibility:
Austin Regional will follow the divisions and the eligibility requirement for the state Japanese speech contest --all levels.

How to Enter:
If you wish to compete in this regional contest, please complete the entry form (college) and submit it online by Feb. 13, 2015:
- College/University division: the first 7 entries
Results:
Three judges will be selected for each division and will judge based solely on the evaluation criteria published on the website for the Texas Japanese speech contest. After the competition the winners must register to compete at the State Speech Contest at the Japan-America Society of Houston website (will be linked later).

Eligibility requirementsText Requirements
- Currently or previously enrolled in a Japanese program in Texas

- Content: The Speech must be original, written by the contestant and not previously recited elsewhere. The theme must be chosen by the contestant. Personal experience and anecdote are welcomed and encouraged.
- Time Limit: The time limit is three minutes, and the contestant must speak for at least two minutes. Points will be deducted for speeches which are over or under the time limit
- Notes: Contestants may use written materials or notes, but those who deliver their speeches without them will be scored higher than those who rely on notes.
- Evaluation Criteria: Free Speeches will be judged on pronunciation, grammatical ability, overall ability, content, delivery, creativity, enthusiasm, and understanding.
