The fact that they could sit in class with their arms behind their back the entire time really surprised me.

I can't imagine students in

I can't imagine students in the US being so engaged as the students we observed in Shanghai.

Students

I couldn't believe how well behaved the children were, they even stood up and greeted their teacher when he walked in the classroom. I dont know how much of this was due to our presence or if it was indicative of behavior in schools across the country.
