This is a picture of a traffic cop in Xi'an. While she didn't seem to be doing much to manage the chaotic traffic, her movements were very artistic and choreographed, it was fun to watch.
This lady was crazy in the middle of the street on her platform. She was doing a chorography dance directing traffic around, you almost wondered if she was actually doing anything that was effective.
The presence of more uniformed authority figures in addition to police in China was really the only difference I felt as a tourist between the US and communist China. I thought it would feel very obvious that I was in a communist country but the red arm bands on the security type employees was the main difference I noticed. As a citizen of China, there are of course many more differences but on the outside, China felt similar to many other countries.
