Interestingly, the playground is NOT divided by age. Its used by grandparents to exercise, adults to relax, and children to play - all together.

The phenomenon of different generations interacting with eachother is definitely part of Chinese culture. Three generations can live in the same house together. They feel comfortable interacting with eachother whereas in the US, young people sometimes do not feel as comfortable communicating with the elderly or feel that the gap is too large to have anything in common. I will be interested to see what the ramifications of the one child policy and this new generation being raised with capitalism will have on the interaction between the generations.

Great photo, Dan. This is an aspect of the Chinese culture that I'd like to see Americans import. The idea that many generations of the same family live together and excerise together in China seems like a good thing. It was fun to see these little exercise parks in China.
