Description

I found this sign amusing because the word 'relax' implies Americans can become frustrated trying to find familiar food to them in China. This is probably the case but not necessarily something the home culture would readily admit. It illustrates the welcoming attitude of the Chinese.

In China, one of the first things that hit me was how helpless I really was a lot of times in terms of communication.  English menus with pictures were critical to my dining success and enjoyment.

I was surprised (and fairly relieved) to find so many menus and other signs in English.  Maybe this was partially due to hotels we were staying in, etc but the translated menus were a pleasant surprise for a picky eater like myself.

I am so one of those people

I am so one of those people that would have needed to relax.  I will never again take for granted menus that I can understand and knowing what is in my food.
