Description

You will see in this photo that there is a young child sitting in her mother's lap in the front seat of the car rather than in a car seat in the back. I saw this a few times while in China. This would be considered extremely unsafe in the US. This cultural difference could be because there are fewer car accidents because of the traffic jams causing people to travel more slowly or because the Chinese place a high importance on human contact and touch.

I was amazed every time I passed a car with a child freely crawling around inside.  I guess there's just no laws like there are in the US about safety restraints for children.  That or they're just not enforced.
