Description

This sign from the elementary school reads, "No pushing while walking, which will keep you and me in a cheerful mood." The explanation of the order represents how the China has a high context culture in which the sharing of knowledge helps determine appropriate behavior. In the US, the sign would probably leave out the explanation part of the directions.

Agreed.  I also think its interesting that this particulary sign addresses crowd control.  There were parts of Shanghai and Beijing that were SO CROWDED (like the subway), but people seemed used to it.  They may have pushed a little, but even then there wasn't too much reaction from the pushees... just normal course of business.
