Description

This is a photo of the guards along the bridge at the Forbidden City who will not let tourists stop anywhere on the bridge to take pictures. With Mao in the background, I find this photo signifies authority beyond was is obvious...as once inside the Forbidden City even the audio tour is edited and censored. I've never seen so much security and obvious authoritative presence at a tourist attraction. (which might represent that there is a threat of dissidents at such places).

It was interesting to see

It was interesting to see that the security was far less concerned about foreigners as they were about Chinese. There were a couple instances where the guards allowed a large group of us to bypass the security lines entirely while hundreds of Chinese were subject to searches.
