Our five star hotel lobby reeked of cigarette smoke. While China has taken some steps toward smoking bans in certain areas, overall China has a much more lax smoking policies than many countries. This is likely a function of China being the world’s largest producer and consumer of cigarettes.
Nice point. They communicated to us in almost every building in China that they do not mind smoking indoors, but they also communicated that their hotel was high-class with their choice in lobby stores...Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, etc. Luckily, our floor at the hotel was Non-smoking.
