Description

At lunch, it appeared that our waiter was disinterested and texting while he listened to our order. Afterward, we found out that he was actually texting our order to the kitchen. It’s funny how since we haven’t seen that technology or usage in the US we initially saw it as rudeness instead of just a new method of entering orders.

I agree with Dan - love this

I agree with Dan - love this process!  I wonder if they don't use it because people would feel like the wait staff was ignoring them.  I don't think eye contact is viewed the same way in China, so people probably don't mind that the wait staff is not making eye contact as they take orders.  In the US people would likely think this was rude, even though it is clearly more efficient.

The process worked so

The process worked so effectively that I'm surprised we don't use it in the US.
