I loved how China rated its toilets. Word to the wise, please don't conduct any business in a 3 star or lower bathroom.
I would like to know the criteria used in rating the toilets. I, too, found this to be a very funny sign. I'd venture to say that the vast majority of the toilets we encountered were rated higher than I would have expected. The Chinese just seem to have a different level of expectation regarding bathroom facilities.
This is a funny concept, but the tourism bureau is making a very intuitive statement. They understand that not all foreigners are comfortable with Chinese squat toilets and therefore they are providing context to the bathroom patrons to make fully informed decisions. For the record, I don't sit on less than 5 stars.
