Description

This is a photo of a local open air market that takes place every Thursday on the bank of the Saône river. At all small stores and markets in France, there is an expected interaction between the person selling the products and the person buying them, almost as if the person has stepped in the house of seller. The buyer is expected to say hello and goodbye, ask questions about the products, and seek the advice of the seller. With each purchase, a relationship is built between the buyer and seller.

Alexandra, What a fantastic

Alexandra, What a fantastic observation about context.  The closest thing I relate to American culture is a nursery where we buy plants, often going to the same person, asking advice, bringing leaves to show what damage has been done to the plant, etc.  But you are right, purchases from Market's are the same in higher context cultures.  Nice observation.
