Description

While this intimate kiss atop Fourvière Hill is certainly a shining example of nonverbal communication, I believe that this photograph is more suitable within the context of what France considers appropriate and inappropriate in the public domain. In comparison to the United States, public displays of affection are much more common in France. It may not necessarily be completely welcomed, but it surely is not reprimanded or considered to be in poor taste as it is in the States. Does being outside necessarily compromise privacy? And what does intimacy as an acceptable characteristic of the French public domain say about how French frame their lives? Perhaps, to the French, the world is their oyster. And not even being out in the open with a candid audience will stop them from doing as they please.
