Description

This picture is of the process behind paragliding in Chamonix. I thought it was an interesting experience, as in the United States, this would be considered a "risky" take, and many documents would need to be signed, the paragliders would most likely have to watch some kind of "how-to" video beforehand, and it is not uncommon to have precautionary methods as such. However, in France's high-context culture, these methods are not necessary, as the paraglider knows he/she is taking their own risk of life. When I paraglided, my pilot didn't even know my name, and there would be absolutely no record of me having paraglided if there were an accident. I was so surprised at this cultural difference, but didn't see either way (the US or France) as superior.
