Telling time

Es la una. It is 1:00.
  Es la una y quince. It is 1:15.
  Es la una y media. It is 1:30.
  Son las dos menos quince. It is 1:45.
  Son las dos. It is 2:00.
  Son las tres. It is 3:00.
  Son las diez de la mañana. It is 10:00 in the morning.
  Son las seis de la tarde. It is 6:00 in the afternoon.
  Son las ocho de la noche. It is 8:00 in the evening.
  Es mediodía. It is noon.
  Es medianoche. It is midnight.

Note 1: Although 4:40 is generally said 'Son cinco menos veinte." you will also hear other alternatives such as, "Son las veinte para las cinco." or "Son las cuatro y cuarenta."

¿Qué hora es? What time is it?
  Son las cuatro de la tarde. It is four in the afternoon.
  ¿Qué hora era? What time was it?
  ¿Cuándo era? When was it?
  Eran las cinco de la tarde. It was five in the afternoon.
  ¿A qué hora es la cita? When is the appointment?
  La cita es al mediodía. The appointment is at noon.
  ¿A qué hora salió él? What time did he leave?
  ¿Cuándo salió él? When did he leave?
  Él salió a las ocho. He left at 8:00 hrs.
