Perú es un país muy grande y tiene tres regiones naturales muy marcadas. Tiene la costa, la sierra y la selva. La costa tiene una extensión aproximada de 1200 kilómetros. Y en ella hay muchos valles con ríos que se forman desde la sierra. Y forman valles que son muy fértiles y donde se hacen mucha agricultura. En estas playas algunas de ellas muy famosas por las olas para el "surfing" están inclusive en canciones de los Beach Boys "Playas del Perú". Y en la parte norte son muy bonitas porque la arena es muy clara. En general la arena aquí es más obscura que en el Caribe. En la sierra hay muchas montañas. La cordillera de los Andes pasa por toda la sierra. Y en la cordillera hay muchas montañas muy altas y muy bonitas que hacen paisajes muy pintorescos. Después de la sierra tenemos la selva que ocupa más o menos un tercio del área del país. Y en la selva nace el Río Amazonas que cruza después todo el Brasil para terminar en el océano Atlántico. Entonces la selva tiene también unos paisajes muy diferentes y muy bonitos. Es muy impresionante, en particular la zona cercana al Río Amazonas.

Peru is a very large country and it has three distinct natural regions. It has the coast, the mountains, and the jungle. The coast extends for nearly 1200 kilometers. In it there are many valleys with rivers that begin up in the mountains. They create many fertile valleys where there is a lot of agriculture. Some of these beaches are famous for their waves that are good for surfing and in fact they are in the Beach Boys' song "Beaches of Peru." In the north they are very pretty because the sand is very clear. In general the sand is darker here than it is in the Caribbean. In the highlands there are many mountains. The Andean mountain range runs through the highlands. In this range there are many beautiful and high mountains with picturesque views. After the highlands we have the jungle that takes up about a third of the country. It is in the jungle where the Amazon River begins which curves throughout Brazil to end up in the Atlantic Ocean. So the jungle also has very different and beautiful scenery. It is very impressive, especially in the zone close to the Amazon River.
