The History of the Northeast Yoruba: Some Research Directions |
This paper concentrates on the history of the Owe, Oworo, and Bunu (including Ikiri), the Yoruba speakers closest to the Niger-Benue Confluence. It presents a number of historical themes and questions, with the intention of stimulating discussion as to the directions in which the study of these Yoruba speakers can profitably proceed. Archaeological and linguistic studies need to be expanded; the examination of cultural connections needs to be continued; and oral testimony needs to be collected before yet another generation dies out. Over the long term, the confluence area has been an important area of cultural and economic contact and circulation, and its history should not be neglected. |
Workshop on Preparing Your Manuscript for Publication |
This workshop presentation is concerned largely with the first submission of a manuscript. It provides practical advice on the ways in which an author can prepare the manuscript (and accompanying proposal or letter) in order to make the most favorable impression on a publisher or journal editors. Various style sheets will be discussed. |
