Welcome to the learning community of teachers and students using Français interactif and its sister site, Tex's French Grammar. This Open Educational Resource is the result of over ten years of collaboration of a unique team of academic and technical professionals at the University of Texas. A cast of thousands has contributed to this first-year French program: students on the UT study abroad program in Lyon and in our classrooms in Austin, graduate students and faculty, programmers, artists, technicians, native French speakers in France and Austin, and teachers and learners all over the world.

We no longer provide any ancillary teaching materials. All available teaching materials can now be found on this website. Audio recordings of listening activity scripts are now available on each chapter page.
New Version
The French at UT Austin team is currently working on a new version of Français interactif hosted on the Pressbooks platform. The first iteration will be finalized by the end of Summer 2026, with new and updated content being phased in over the next few years. We have no plans to update or remove the current website.
