Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton was an ardent proponent of a strong federal government, something that was lacking in the Articles of Confederation. His views were influential as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1787 and afterwards as the author of 51 of the 85 Federalist Papers written in conjunction with John Jay and James Madison in an attempt to convince New York to ratify the proposed Constitution.
