Description

This is a photo taken in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France during its 850th anniversary. This man, one of many, is standing in front of the Cathedral shooting fireworks to call attention to make a stance against the rights of gays to marry. Standing in the area, many other people joined together, chanting and making noise to have their opinion heard. Also standing close by, a large group of police officers huddled together, keeping their eye on the noisy crowd. The policemen stood fully armed with shields, helmets, and even shin guard protectors, ready for anything that was going to come their way. This shows that French citizens are able to protest and have their voices heard while the police stand by fully prepared to help keep the peace.
