Gerardo Cabrera, Médico Veterninario
DAKTARI
Monterrey, México

I am Dr. Gerardo Cabrera. I work here at the pet shop Daktari. The job that I have is that of a medical veterinarian. My work every day, beginning at 8:00 o'clock in the morning is basically to arrive, review the cages of the dogs that are for sale, look for any possibly sick animal, go up stairs to the second floor and give him an physical, check vital signs, check temperature, perform an excrement examination, and if possible a blood test, a blood test and try to diagnose as soon as possible the problem that the dog might have and send him on to the appropriate room. This is the main activity that I do every day.

Later if there are quite a few sick animals you have to check them all out again and it is the same process with any of the dogs, there are routine examinations, you check them, give them treatments, we always take excrement exams to possibly detect any new diseases and to be on top of all of this, right? After finishing the treatments, it is around 11:30, we begin..., frequently there are appointments with outside clients or appointments with dogs that we have sold and that come back sick or maybe some surgery that we have scheduled. We also take care of clients who buy a dog or other pet, give them the certification of vaccination, explain to them the guarantee that each dog has, what recommendations they should follow, their diet, things to be careful about, their hygiene, their clean up, right? These are the main activities that we do here in this work.
