Vanity Domain Policy and Registration

Vanity domains are non-utexas.edu branded domains. Liberal Arts discourages their usage. However, for those clients who have a business need for a vanity domain for their website(s) hosted on LAITS servers must do the following:

1) Register your .net/.org domain for a minimum of 5 years

• no .com domains
• we prefer that you register with GoDaddy.com
• enter the following information for technical contact:

DNS Servers:

• glass.its.utexas.edu
• chisos.ots.utexas.edu
• marianas.its.utexas.edu

2) Fill out Domain Name Hosting Form with ITS. Cost is $51/year, charged to a UT account.

• include both www.domain.name and domain.name in the host form.
• technical contact should be same as GoDaddy registration.

3) Send ticket to laits-help@utexas.edu requesting Virtual Host Setup for your domain.
