Toyin Falola is the Frances Higginbothom Nalle Centennial professor
in History at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of
numerous articles and books, most recently The History of Nigeria (1999),
The Culture and Customs of Nigeria (2001), and Nationalism and African
Intellectuals
(2001). A teacher at numerous institutions in various countries
since the 1970s, he is the recipient of the 2000 Jean Holloway Award for
Teaching Excellence at the University of Texas at Austin.
