Saheed Aderinto is a PhD student at the University of Texas at Austin where he is completing a dissertation on the history of illicit sexuality in colonial Lagos. He holds a BA in History from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. His areas of interest include, gender and sexuality, peace and conflict studies, nationalism and historiography, and African diaspora. In addition to numerous journal articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries and book reviews, his co-authored book titled, Nigeria, Nationalism, and Writing History is forthcoming from University of Rochester Press.

Nana Akua Amponsah is a graduate student at the History Department at the University of Texas at Austin. Amponsah completed her Bachelor’s Degree in History at the Oklahoma Panhandle State University and her Master’s Degree in History at the Fort Hays State University in Kansas. My research interest is in the history of African women, gender relations, and reproductive health. I focus particularly on the changing conceptions of African womanhood and motherhood, and the socio-cultural and health dialogues surrounding women and gender in their historical contexts in colonial and post-colonial Ghana.
