Amado Carrillo Fuentes

The next to take over as drug lord was Amado Carrillo Fuentes. Carrillo used Calderoni as a pawn in his plan to become the biggest, most notorious, most powerful, and richest Mexican drug-lord, having Acosta killed. Carrillo traveled worldwide to places like Russia, the Middle East, South America, the Caribbean, and Las Vegas, yet was rarely bothered by authorities. Carrillo even proposed to the Mexican government to work in collaboratory efforts in counter-acting lesser, disorganized traffickers. He proposed to help out the Mexican economy by haulting drug sales in Mexico, and instead directing them to the U.S. and Europe. Carrillo wanted to remain nothing more than a businessman, not a criminal. Another idea included to cut out the middle man in Colombia and expand his business to as far as Australia. These career moves helped him become possibly the most entrepreneurial and cosmopolite of all Mexican drug traffickers ever. He was also very successful in keeping himself invisible, despite being chased worldwide. However, after post-surgery complications from having plastic surgery in a Mexico city clinic to change his face and take off excessive fat in order to change his appearance, Carrillo died on July 4, 1997.

Amado Carrillo Fuentes was well known for transporting tons of cocaine on big planes and helicopter, seen here, and was therefore coined as "Lord of the Skies."

This is a photo of what appears to be an Amado Carrillo Fuentes keg.

A mug shot photo of Carrillo is what you see above.
