Misspelled English words seemed to be the norm. This one in particular at the Imperial Palace.

This misspelled translation is particularly interesting because it is from the Imperial Palace, a tourist destination where Chinese officials know there will be tons of English-speaking visitors each day. Nevertheless, it is clear that there was very little oversight but native English speakers. This may be due to the Chinese's pride in avoiding outsiders' help, or a lack of concern for foreigners' opinions of the Chinese's interpretations of foreign languages.
