I took this photo walking near Tiananmen Square. This was a full shore of force with the military walking in full elaborate formation.
The presence of Authority was the most apparent in the capital city of Beijing. This is the central city for the Chinese government so it was no surprise. The formation of the soldiers and the pace of their movement is definitely intimidating and helps plant the subconscious seed in your mind that the government is the authority in this country and you don't want to step out of line.
I read that the soldiers' steps have to be exactly the same length and have the same timing...practice makes perfect but that must be hard given extrenal environment and different heights/weights between soldiers.
