This paper presents the research findings on cultural and ethnic accommodation of newcomers who live, work and study in South Africa. The study compares interview responses of both South Africans and newcomers in order to find out if both parties accommodate each other. The comparison is particularly between the South Africans and the newcomers in both urban and rural areas. With the employment of the qualitative and thematic analysis of the conversation data drawn from Eggins & Slade, 1997; Martin & Rose, 2001 etc. this paper discusses the problems found between the South Africans and newcomers. Finally, the paper recommends several strategies which can be used to overcome such barriers and work together in promoting African unity.
