The following investigation examines
the transnational identity of the Yoruba in Cuba. The report asks how
has Yoruba identity sustained musico-religious culture in the face
of consternation. Examples are provided from experiences in socialist
Cuba. It is important to understand how Yoruba identity in Cuba is
a force for social change as a resistance identity and how this is
part of a historical continuum. Other concerns regard the crucial role
this has can and will play in the advancement of Pan Africanism.
