Health Status – Reason for Migration

Akiyode Olufunke Adesuwa

The WHO defined health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of diseases. The health status of the populace in Africa is a major reason for migration. Unequal access to healthcare and modern healthcare technologies have made a lot of people seek refuge in many developed countries. Lack of healthcare financing has created out of pocket payments, high user fees and high cost of healthcare. The fact that health care policies are either lacking or not enforced has also heightened the incidence of migration. The paper describes the major health care problems that give rise to migration and proffer solutions to these problems.
