These photographs, which are part of the rich Radin Community Collection, housed at the Dolf Briscoe Center for American History at UT Austin, document daily life in pre-World War II Radin, Poland. This collection constitutes perhaps the largest set of photographs of any one village in pre-war Europe. Additionally the collection contains an assortment of audio cassette tapes, research files, correspondence, news clippings, periodicals and collected publications in Yiddish and English documenting the Jewish community in Radin prior to World War II and during the Nazi occupation and decimation of the town.

These trials were part of their larger project of prosecuting alleged “Fascists” in the so-called “people’s courts” across Red Army occupied Eastern Europe. Beginning on March 7, 1945, Bulgaria’s trials pre-dated the Nuremburg Trials and were quite distinct from most “peoples courts” trials in the Bloc, which largely focused on the working class or the Soviet Union itself as the primary victims in the war.

Evreiski Glas (The Jewish Voice) was one of the first newspapers of the Bulgarian Sephardic community in Bulgaria. Written in Bulgarian with a Ladino (or Judeo-Spanish) supplement, it ran only one year from 1896-7, and espoused an explicitly Zionist viewpoint.
